Janice Mayer
Development Associate
Janice returned to Celebrate the Beat this fall after having served as Interim Executive Director in 2020. Working remotely from Santa Fe, she concurrently serves as Grants and Development Director for The Sky Center/New Mexico Suicide Intervention Project. She moved to New Mexico in 2015 to serve as Executive Director of the Santa Fe Desert Chorale. Previously she served in leadership positions in the nonprofit sector in New York City, including as Associate Director of Classical Action: Performing Arts Against AIDS. In addition to posts at the New York City Opera, Metropolitan Opera, and the Shubert Organization, she was a Vice President at Columbia Artists Management, Inc. and founded Janice Mayer & Associates LLC, an international artist management firm which she directed for eleven years. Consulting clients have included The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, The Harlem School of the Arts, and Caminos del Inka, Inc She has served on numerous grant panels at the federal, state, and local levels.
Janice Mayer holds a BA in American Studies with a secondary concentration in Dance from Connecticut College. She completed a Masters of Public Administration degree with a specialization in Arts Administration from New York University where she also taught as adjunct faculty. She is a Certified Fundraising Executive. The Massachusetts native enjoys attending the performing arts and watching tennis live or on the Tennis Channel – her guilty pleasure!
