Steve Denny is an exquisitely emotive and multifaceted pianist who creates indelible musical portraits through masterful virtuosity and touch. Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Steve has applied his expansive versatility as a pianist, composer, and educator across jazz, classical, R&B, gospel, and beyond. He was one of five finalists for the prestigious Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition in 2012 and 2015, and as a member of the University of Northern Colorado’s Lab Band I, received a Downbeat Magazine award in 2008.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Loyola University Chicago and a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of Northern Colorado. With over fifteen years of educational experience, he has taught piano at community colleges and music schools, served as an adjudicator/clinician in both classical and jazz settings, and held teaching artist roles for the New York Pops Ed and Moravian Academy Jazz Camp.
Steve believes strongly in the beneficial impact of music and is proud to be part of the Celebrate the Beat team.
