Sindell Perez Fuentes

Marketing Coordinator & Teaching Artists in Training

Sindell Perez Fuentes is a Summit County local who has been part of the community since the age of five. With 19 years of dance experience, Sindell is trained in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and musical theater. She grew up dancing at Alpine Dance Academy, where she credits her well-rounded foundation to the guidance and inspiration of her incredible dance teachers.

Sindell holds a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design with a minor in Dance from Colorado State University. During her time at CSU, she performed in two Fall Dance Concerts and two Capstone pieces. Her final Capstone project, Defying Ballet, challenged traditional authoritarian teaching practices in ballet by choreographing deliberate "mistakes" and engaging audiences to reframe their perceptions of error, ultimately highlighting the beauty and value in imperfection.

Sindell also participated in an internship with Professor Lisa Morgan, founder of Moving Through Parkinson's. In this role, she worked with individuals living with Parkinson’s disease, guiding them through exercises like the Brain Dance to promote physical movement and cognitive engagement. This experience deepened Sindell's passion for making dance accessible and meaningful to diverse communities.

In 2024, Sindell connected with Kris Walsh through mutual friends and began her journey with Celebrate the Beat. She joined the organization for their annual Pop Hop Camp that summer and, by November, became a full-time Marketing Coordinator and Teaching Artist in Training. This role allows her to blend her expertise in graphic design and dance, living out her goal of sharing the transformative power of dance with those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience it.

A fun fact about Sindell is that she is bilingual and was born with a tooth! She also lived in Hawaii for half a year, where she learned Hula, Tahitian, and Polynesian dance, further expanding her diverse dance repertoire. Sindell is thrilled to be part of Celebrate the Beat, combining her passion for movement and creativity to inspire and uplift others through dance.
