Larry Dutmer spent his formative years in Chicago where he was busy playing drums and percussion with several bands and theater companies. He moved to the Vail area after he landed a counseling job with Colorado Mountain College. Ever since his arrival he has been busy working with various bands, the Vail Jazz Festival and theater companies in the Vail and Roaring Fork Valleys.

Larry loves being a part of CTB because young students are exposed to the joy and art of dancing. Many of the CTB students would never have the chance or receive the encouragement to attend dance classes at a studio but CTB brings the opportunity to the students’ school.

“It is a joy to see their young faces light up when they realize they can perform dance steps and routines, especially when their parents come to see a performance,” Larry states. If you have a 4th or 5th grader in Eagle County, more than likely, your student has seen Larry teach the “Jazz Goes to School” series that travels to each elementary school.
