ABOUT US

Celebrate The Beat (CTB)

We are a not-for-profit Colorado based organization, teaching inspirational music and dance classes that help children discover their potential by motivating them to believe in themselves, value artistic expression, and develop a personal standard of excellence. During and after school hours, our Teaching Artists serve entire grades, or an entire school, by creating a music and dance extravaganza inspired by that year’s educational theme. The teaching artists are professional dancers, choreographers, musicians and composers, who believe that the arts should be an integral part of every child's education.

CTB was founded as an associate program of National Dance Institute, created by Jacques d’Amboise in the belief that the arts have a unique power to engage children and motivate them toward excellence.  We teach high energy, joyful, physically and mentally demanding classes that instill confidence, pride, work ethic, and a mentality of never giving up.

CTB elicits in children a personal standard of excellence by using dance as the medium to teach children a valuable life lesson: that energy, discipline, hard work, commitment, and joyful concentration can lead to success.  For many children CTB is a life-changing event; for all, it is an amazing experience they will never forget.

Our Core Beliefs:

Tracy Straus

• Regardless of social, ethnic, economic, or physical boundaries, every child has the potential for success.
• Quality interaction between mentors/educators and children has the power to make long-lasting, meaningful, and positive impacts.
• Each child has the right to develop curiosity, awareness, and the realization that they can make good choices to help themselves and others in the world around them.
• Arts, culture, and dance are forces for positive change in the world, and nurture our greatest resource: our children.
• We are strongly influenced by and aligned with the pedagogy created by Jacques d’Amboise and the staff of the world-renowned National Dance Institute.

Our History:

Tracy Straus founded the Colorado-based Celebrate the Beat (CTB) in 2000, as an outreach program for the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet. In 2004, CTB became an independent 501(c)3 organization.
CTB is inspired by the techniques of the award winning National Dance Institute (NDI). Tracy began mastering the NDI method under NDI’s founder, Jacques d’Amboise, teaching in public schools throughout New York City. As part of a core group of NDI-inspired educators who have gone on to found associate organizations across the country, Tracy directed the Residency program for NDI-New Mexico and co-founded NDI associate program California Dance Institute. Tracy also is the Associate Artistic Director of NDI as well as the Artistic Director of CTB.
CTB is proud to collaborate with Associates of National Dance Institutes (ANDI) in teaching exchanges and to share best practices in dance education.
